The City University offers over a hundred Master's, as well as professional certificates in a wide range of fields.  The most popular graduate programs to date among Murphy Institute students are in Urban Studies, Education, and Library and Information Studies.

GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS

Master's in Urban Affairs
This program prepares students for professional work and career advancement in the areas of public administration, government service, social policy, and community organization and development. Courses in urban planning, service delivery, budgeting, and public management provide students with the tools they need to become effective public service providers. Degree requirements can be completed at either the  mid-Manhattan or at the Queens College campuses.

Master's in Urban Affairs/Urban Leadership
Public sector workers in this MA program are offered a unique opportunity to participate in the Urban Leadership program and may enroll in a series of special topic courses organized around a task force model. Topics that are examined include: health care, housing, welfare, criminal justice, and education. Students in these courses typically review the literature in the field, interview policy makers and constituents, access their own experience as service providers, critically evaluate current policies and practices, and prepare a series of policy recommendations.  Degree requirements can be completed at either mid-Manhattan or at Queens College campuses.

Master's in Urban Affairs with a Concentration in Labor and Policy Studies
This program prepares students for professional careers or career advancement in the labor movement. Courses focus on labor history, contemporary labor issues, labor law, the political process, public policy, community organization and social action research.  Available at the mid-Manhattan and Queens College campuses.

Master's in Education
Programs in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Secondary Education and Youth Services prepare students for the challenges of teaching in an urban setting and making the classroom an exciting and creative learning environment. Degree requirements can only be completed at the Worker Education's College of Staten Island and Queens College campuses.

Master's in Library Science
The Pathway to Careers in the Information Age (PCIA) program provides opportunities for school teachers, employees of the public library systems, and others to earn a Master's in Library Science. Those who want to work as school librarians can pursue the School Media Specialist concentration. Available at the mid-Manhattan and Queens College campuses.
